The Cortex™-R8 processor builds on the highly successful Cortex-R7 processor, offering advanced features for when the highest levels of performance are required. The Cortex-R8 can be configured as single, dual, triple or quad coherent cores, which when combined with Cortex-R8's other advanced features more than double its performance compared to the Cortex-R7. The Cortex-R8 enables significantly larger tightly coupled memories (TCMs), up to 1MB of instruction TCM and 1MB of data TCM per core. In additional to other benefits the Cortex-R8 can be configured with 12, 16, 20 or 24 memory protection unit regions.

Cortex R8 Cycle Model
Description The Cortex R8 model is compiled directly from Arm's register transfer level (RTL) code and maintains 100% functional accuracy. The model integrates directly with Arm's SoC Designer virtual prototype. This enables designers to perform accurate architectural analysis, performance optimization and pre-silicon firmware debug.
